Rafael Lovato Jr is the man! He's professional in all aspects of his life and the perfect mentor. He has been exposing me to the power of jiu jitsu since 2006 and I probably wouldn't be training today if it wasn't him taking me and my brother under his wing. Thanks Professor you changed my life forever!

I began my training 4 years ago at Lovato's academy in Oklahoma, where I learned solid fundamentals that have served me well since then and will continue to do so in the future. Even though I was only there for 5 months and took the beginner's class (not taught by Rafael), he takes such an interest in each one of his students that when I returned years later, he remembered me by name. I have followed Rafael's career and continue to be inspired by it, and when I visited I was still made to feel like part of the family. The instruction is top notch as evidenced by the multiple world, panam, and national championships between himself and his many accomplished students. But beyond the technical aspects, Lovato's JiuJitsu is unique in that it teaches the traditional martial arts tenets of honor and respect. It is a welcome environment to beginners and experts alike, everyone checks their egos at the door, and I couldn't recommend it enough to anyone with the opportunity to train there.

I have learned so much more about Jiu jitsu since my first visit to Lovato Jr's school in OKC. My coach and teamates have traveled to his school many times to train and have had the opportunity to compete along side his team last year in Houston. His commitment to technique and attention to all the details is noticeable in every member of his team. He raises the bar on what you can accomplish with BJJ. Thank you. See you guys again soon.

Rafael is a very skilled practitioner who has taught around the world for many years now. It is clear when you attend a seminar or class that he has been around BJJ for many years. He possesses world class knowledge from every position and the ability to explain it. Rafael always gives off a positive vibe and encourages his students to improve. I really like how he shares his knowledge on topics both on and off the mat. Simply put he is the best American BJJ practitioner and instructor.

I started training at Rafael's school almost a year ago and I only have praise for Rafael and his school. I have taken martial arts in the past but have never felt more well rounded in my studies until I started at Lovato's. Rafael is very approachable and also provides positive re-enforcement as an instuctor. I believe attitude starts at the top and it carries down through his instructors and students. Everyone there makes you feel like family! It is a privilege to study under very well established martial artist and competitor!
