Cecil is a great instructor, friend, brother, and father figure. he is very understanding and patient when it comes to teaching and training, but when it comes to sparring, he is very sneaky and might catch you in a banana split hahaha. Cecil does not hold anything back when it comes to training, he goes for all types of submissions like kneebars and footlocks, which is why i love attacking legs. Of course though he doesn't try to rip it off if you're a whitebelt, but that doesn't mean you're in the safezone, he will go for those submissions if they are there for him. That;s the thing as well, he is always pushing you to go farther and push harder as well. there is always a way. he takes his time to explain moves and positions and if you are having trouble with a certain position, he will help you figure a way to adjust it just for you to make it work for you. And his wife Liz is a saint!!! love you mom!!

Cecil is a great jiujitsu practitioner that I have had to pleasure to train with for many years. He would always welcome my questions after we would roll and turn my mistakes into unforgettable learning experiences. I had the great pleasure of attending a seminar he gave at my current school just before he left to New Mexico, and I hope to train with him again in the not too distant future! Thanks for everything you have taught me Cecil!

Rolling with Cecil has always been such a great experience for me. Cecil is the 1st person that I ever rolled with at the academy in which we come from, and to this very day he continues to teach me more and more about the art of Brazilian Jiujitsu. I now run academies of my own and always jump at the opportunity to have Cecil show a technique (or 6) at my programs. All of my students are treated with kindness, respect, and an extraordinary amount of BJJ knowledge whenever he rolls through, and my students and I have kindly given him the moniker of "The Encyclopedia" because of his vast understanding of the "Gentle Art" and his openness to receive new bits of knowledge himself. If you ever have the opportunity to train with Cecil do what you can to be available. You surely won't regret it.

I had the pleasure of meeting Cecil a year ago and the privilege of training with him the last few months. His skills in Brazilian jiu jitsu is a reminder of how much I have to learn. Cecil's unique style of rolling and teaching has renewed my passion for the sport. I look forward to broadening my game with an easy going and humble man. See you in class professor.
