Mike is an awesome instructor. He is great with the students in class. He knows everyone's names and seems to keep a very friendly relationship with all of his students. Mike is also extremely technical. He is very specific about everything he teaches. Every time Mike teaches a technique, he will give a quick (personal experience) story about how effective the move actually is. I like that because in a way, it helps convince me that the technique is worth remembering. He constantly stays in impressively good shape, and as a student of his, it motivates me to be in as good of shape as my instructor.

Mike made my game come together and helped me get there fast. Now people have to worry about my ground game as well as my stand up. Thanks Mike

Mikey is a shining example of both a GREAT martial artist AND a GREAT martial arts instructor, which is a hard combination to master (but he has done it well). Humble, fiendly, knowledgeable, and there for his students like family; he is who i try to be like as an instructor myself.

Coach Mike is a Jiu-Jitsu Encyclopedia and has the ability to explain the techniques in a way that I can perform them easily. During live training he always has helpful tips for me that improve my game right away. I feel that he is invested in my future as a grappler and that he pushes me to reach my full potential every time I step on the mat. I am proud to train under Coach Mike Sanford.

Mike is a great instructor and has taken my interest in self defense to another level. No matter what he always has something to say that will build you up and make you a stronger fighter. He is a example of what he teaches and that's inspiring.

Being a little older and understanding what a truly great teacher is, I find it hard to believe that you could find a better teacher than Mike. His knowledge is impeccable, his skill at explaining the techniques is top-notch, and his own BJJ game is top of the food chain. He always takes time to answer your questions and show the technique again if needed. You always feel like he is personally invested in making your game better. The reason? Because HE IS. Thanks Mike!

I walked into Alan Belcher MMA 14 months ago and met a guy named Mike Sanford. I was soft and out of shape. Mike was friendly and welcoming, he gave me a private lesson and demo of what I could learn at the club. Because of Mike I returned to ABMMA and became a member. I had no idea that Mike was the Head BJJ Instructor, he was so down to earth and approachable. Mike wants all of his students to do well and excel in every part of their lives, that is rare in people, much less highly skilled combat artists. He knows how to motivate and give constructive criticism. Mikes BJJ technique and game is at the upper tier of all competitors. I know everytime I advance in rank that I have earned it because he is a task master when it comes to proper technique. Finally he gives each student a BJJ game that suits thier body type and skill set, he also brings in top level grapplers to teach his classes, he is constantly adapting and learning new techniques. Alan Belcher and the Moraes Brothers should be very proud to have Mike as a student and as an instructor. BJJ and MMA have restructured my outlook and priorities, they will always be a part of my life. I am eternally grateful to Mike for his friendship and teachings.

Mikey "Traingles" as I know him was my first BJJ instructor and is one of the biggest reasons I stayed at m first school. I have transitioned to MMA now but still use many sweeps, submissions and drills I learned from him. I have medaled in NAGA , Sub 1 , Good Fight and other grappling events thanks to the foundation I built with "triangles " and can't express enough how valuable of an intrstrctor , competitor and person he is!

When I look to learn something, I usually try to find an excellent teacher. Coach Mike Sanford is that and more. He is the cliche "encyclopedia" when it comes to jiu jitsu. I couldn't imagine training under anyone else.

Mike is an awesome BJJ instructor! He is very sharp, smart, and technical. The first time i stepped in the gym he greeted me, and instantly i knew he was the real deal. He's very easy to talk to, and treats everyone with respect. It's mind-blowing how much he knows about BJJ. And if there's something you don't follow or have trouble understanding completely, he will explain and demonstrate thoroughly so you can understand. This guy is the truth, and i hope i can continue learning from him...

Mr Mike is awesome! He is a huge reason I have done so well in jiu jitsu so far. He teaches us kids in a way that we really understand. His skills on the mat are unbelievable! I really look up to him as a coach and couldn't ask for a better person to have as my coach!
