Coach Mike is great. My son was learned a lot in his class. He's very patient and works well with kids. Sending a shout out to Coach Dave, too!!! They make a great team working with kids.

BJJ of Tacoma, under the guiding hand of Coach Michael Proctor, is the place to be if you desire professionalism and quality BJJ training. Coach Proctor and his team give every student the opportunity to grow into their own BJJ skill set and goals. You are not forced into any unnatural paradigm of "this is how it's supposed to be". Each student is provided the necessary tools, personal guidance and the room and time to mature into their own BJJ potential. You are extended the qualities of dignity and respect as a result of Coach Proctor's evolving passion for BJJ as a result of his experience and vision for professional and personnal success. You are never treated like a "paying customer" but a member of a family. And, as the values of Loyalty, Respect, Selflessness, Honor and Integrity are instilled to every student and demanded of every student, one quickly realizes there is an imperative call for these values to become the lifestyle of BJJ not merely on but off the mat. This is the experience at BJJ of Tacoma. Ossss!

Coach Michael Proctor is an amazing instructor. He has a way of motivating people to really strive to be their best. He is honest and pushes people when he knows that they are capable of more. He is a true inspiration.

Coach Proctor is a fine example of a teacher/instructor. He gives clear and concise intruction and great emphasis on the basics making on the spot corrections. Mike is both personal and professional. BjjTacoma has an environment conducive to learning and training. My only regret is not joining sooner.

I have been training with Coach Proctor for a year and a half, and it has changed my life more profoundly than I can express. He's a great coach who's always pushing me to improve.

Coach Mike is a excellent instructor. He treats all of his students as if they are part of his family and never treats anyone as less than an equal. His teaching methods are easy to understand and he works with us during each lesson to make sure we comprehend exactly what is being taught. Mike is very personable and makes sure that everyone is working together as a team. I am one of the newest members to the team, but I already know this is the place where I can grow in a supportive environment with the supplemental assistance of coaches Stephanie and Dave, who also show an unparalleled level of patience when dealing newbies like me. I admit, I was nervous when first walking into BJJ Tacoma, but that went away after my first class there and I intend on training with this brilliant establishment for a long time to come.

What sets coach michael proctor aside, is the fact that he makes his student's bjj journey be his journey all over again, providing his support with their challenges on and off the mat, and instilling his own high level of technical proficiency and professionalism in each of them. Its this "we are in this together" mentality that makes training at bjj of tacoma such a rewarding experience.

I dropped by Michael Proctors Academy when I was in town for a tournament. I had never met him before. He and his team opened their doors to me and let me train to stay loose for the tournament. Top notch guy, character is the best, his guys were very technical, a testament to his teaching. I recommend this school to any one looking for quality Jiu Jitsu in the Tacoma area. Very clean and professional environment.

At first, Michael Proctor comes off as a stand up guy. After training there for an extended period of time his true colors begin to show. On numerous occasions I have witnessed him belittle others in front of his students. In fact, I have heard him talk bad about a team mate named Bill in front of the entire class. He would talk about Bills weight issue and about his hygiene. Of coarse this wasn't while Bill was present. It really makes things uncomfortable for everyone. Especially new students. Those are opinions that should be kept to yourself or discussed privately. Before training at his academy, I would read ripoffreport.com. Micheal is known to take advantage of people. I recently sued and won $740 but Michael refuses to pay his debt. Michael's instruction is decent for beginners. After training at other schools, it's apparent he needs improvement. If there are any other schools remotely close I would recommend making the drive. Michael is very toxic when you get to know him so beware if you choose to save a few bucks and train there. If it's your absolute only option, go train and leave immediately after class and don't get sucked into the drama.
