I have been training with Marcos since 2007 on and off due to injuries and academic commitments. I have visited other schools out of curiosity throughout California and in the Sacramento region and have concluded that Marcos is the only choice for me. Not only does Marcos focus on the smallest of details (and I mean correcting your grips to a half of an inch type of detail), but he genuinely loves to teach. It is evident Marcos teaches because of his love for the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He cares deeply about the success of his students both off and on the mats. On top of this, he is a world class competitor and he leads by example. When we are tired and drained from a hard practice, so is he because he trains with us every single time. With all honesty, I have yet to meet an instructor that makes the Jiu Jitsu experience as valuable and holistic as Marcos.

Even before I moved to California, I knew Marcos was THE instructor who I would want to learn Jiu Jitsu from. His accomplishments I saw during my search got me really excited to learn under a true competitor/champion who is not afraid to put his skills to the test year after year. Now that I am already training in the academy, I am at peace knowing that my decision was the right one. Marcos Torregrosa’s passion in Jiu Jitsu is evident in his teaching and how he runs the school – as well as the champions that he is able to produce! His attention to details is superb and he makes sure that none of his students perform a sloppy technique. He ensures that techniques are done correctly with the utmost detail to set a solid foundation – very important! Marcos is very approachable and always ready to answer questions and lets you know what to do next. His students are also classy in helping you feel welcome in the academy. They make sure that the “new guy” doesn’t get lost in the mix, but is an active participant which makes the class very enjoyable and definitely educational amidst the demanding challenge of training with the best.

Marcos is without a doubt one the best instructors in Sacramento. I've trained with several other black belts in the area and none of them are as good of an instructor as he is. He is very active in competition, and he brings that spirit to class and instills it in all of his students. Also being active in the sport allows him to bring the latest techniques to the mats, which he teaches with a lot of enthusiasm. He loves jiu jitsu, and it shows. He wants the best out of his students. Anyone wanting to be good at this sport doesn't need to look any further... World Champions are made here.
