Master Jay has been teaching our son Martial Arts and self defense for the past 3 years now. We are very pleased with not only Jay's techniques and training, but the progress our son has made over the years. I took MMA lessons from Jay for about 6 years and you could not ask for a nicer or more knowledgeable instructor. I always left every class solidifying my strengths, strengthening my weaknesses, and expanding new techniques to better both my jujitsu and kickboxing. He's amazing with both kids and adults, individual and group lessons, and keeps things fun while also reminding the serious nature of learning a martial art. Feel yourself lucky if you get to take lessons from him. Sign up! You will not regret it.

Master Jay is a real world martial arts instructor and an excellent roll model and mentor for my daughter Charlize. My daughter has been doing martial arts for almost 8 years, and holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. She wanted to learn a different martial art and my Wife and I looked into MD Ultimate Martial Arts in Pasadena. We were very impressed with Master Jay's studio and presentation. Our daughter has learned Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and kick boxing, Karate, under Master Jay's instruction and we are very pleased with how much she has learned. Jay also competes and goes to seminars and is a student Carlos Machado, so he is teaching up to date concepts and styles. Jay is down to earth and a very knowledgeable instructor...I highly recommend his studio!!

Jay lead our daughter to earning her black belt by the age of 13. She learned self-control, discipline, how to use energy, and most of all to always promote peace. This is all, of course, in addition to the karate skills! Jay is both excellent with his students and their families. He is kind and deeply respectful of all he encounters. I could tell he has been practicing martial arts for most of his life, as he embodies the powerful presence of someone who is constantly mastering body, mind, and spirit.

I've worked in secondary and postsecondary education for 30 years and hold three graduate degrees in related fields. Jay Elbourn is not only the finest martial arts instructor I have seen, he is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He works well in classes of all sizes and is able to concurrently teach students of different ages, skills and aptitudes. He is, at once, highly-skilled, energetic, patient, and humble. Would that all teachers possess these qualities.

Master Jay has taken my boys to black and red belts under his teaching for the last 8 years in mixed martial arts, and now they are BJJ yellow belts. He can be serious with them when necessary but like a big brother at other times. Excellent at teaching BJJ, breaks down complicated moves into manageable bits that can be more easily learned by kids and adults. Great teaching at this studio!

Master Jay is has been an essential part of my family's life since 2011. Teaching, coaching and guiding myself and my 2 eldest children to black belts and beyond in a mixed martial arts curriculum and starting my youngest on the road to martial arts success as well. He is an enthusiastic, skilled and kind instructor. His multiple years of training and teaching multiple styles of martial arts has given a him a keen sense of how to maximize each students skills and potential. We are just starting to focus more on JiuJitsu, and we are all benefiting from his passion to teach this grappling art and his drive to improve his skills. Jay Elbourn is a dedicated Martial Artist and a natural teacher. My day is always better for my time spent on the mat. For focused self improvement, self defense and fun....come give him a try.

Master Jay is a great instructor. He cares for his students and wants to see them succeed. Our son has learned so much about karate, self defense, and what he is capable of in the last year. Can't wait for our youngest to start!

I was invited to sit in as a guest Master Instructor on the awarding panel at a black-belt awarding ceremony at the MD Ultimate Martial Arts Academy, recently. I was impressed with Jay Jordan Elbourn's school, the level of enthusiasm of his students, the positive overall atmosphere of the school, & his ability to teach to the level of each of the students. His understanding of the techniques he teaches was very good, & I feel he's a great asset to the BJJ community. I look forward to continuing our friendship & to meeting up with him again in the future.

Jay is not only an amazing martial arts instructor, but an amazing person as well. He taught both of my kids and me karate several years ago. His kindness and humor works fabulously with kids. He just "gets" them. He is able to come to their level and encourage no matter what. When he taught me as an adult, his jokes and approach changed appropriately. I always felt great after class and was amazed at myself that I was able to do the new things he taught me so well. I see Jay always working to perfect and enhance his craft. He is a true credit to the martial arts and to humanity.

Jay is always going above and beyond to bring his students good instruction, inspiration, and a friendly atmosphere. He is able to work with everyone who comes in on the mat and provide them with the experience or education they are looking for. There is no doubt that Jay has a positive impact on all of his students.

We’re very thankful that Jay became our son's instructor in his younger years and taught him how to defend himself and condition his body, and beyond that - how to be respectful of and helpful to others. Jay is always fun but firm – and his students, every last one, pay attention, watch and learn from him in every class. For the past 7 years, Jay has been a great role model, good friend, and mentor to our son. Jay is a kind and decent man and we could not have asked for a better instructor when our son decided to dedicate himself to martial arts.

After being somewhat of a martial arts wanderer, I have been studying under Jay for the better part of a decade. He is an extremely skilled martial artist with a focus on realistic application of technique. My daughter has just begun studying kickboxing as well.

Jay has been my instructor and good friend for nearly 20 years. Within that 20 years he has been an amazing instructor and always keeping things interesting. He knows just the right buttons to push to make each person better and push harder. He has a way of breaking each technique down in a way that you specifically can understand. He works hard to make sure there's always something to learn as he learns himself. Jay is definitely above and beyond the best!

Master Jay taught all 4 of us at some point, 2 of us beyond black belt. He is dedicated to his art and to his students. He cultivates trust and respect with students and families in an atmosphere of positivity and confidence building. I have watched him work with all kinds of children with many needs/backgrounds/abilities, and he handles them all gracefully. He also teaches other kids how to interact respectfully with kids at different levels of ability and belt status. You will certainly be happy with Master Jay.

Master Jay has been an amazing instructor for my 3 kids over the last 4 years. He is patient as they learn the latest techniques while also teaching them the core values needed to succeed on the mat and in life. The self defense lessons he demonstrates with them will be relevant for a lifetime and I am grateful that he is on the cutting edge of the industry.
