Me & my friend trained with this Nick Cage looking joke a couple of years ago. He couldn't even teach basic moves. When I trained with him, he told me that he was injured and wanted to go slow, so I did. He went slow, until he was in a good position -then he started headcranking me as hard as he could!!! Keep in mind that I was a white belt just trying to learn!!! He can't wrestle his way out of a paper bag. Stick to making bad movies baldy!

I have a hard time believing that. I have trained hard for 7 years and when I rolled with Harlan I couldn't do anything. He was smooth and used no power. He's a black belt under Royce and Royce is very stingy with black belts. I think he has less than 20 out there. I enjoyed training with him.

Harlan Taylor is the best ground instructor I have had yet. I have about 3 years experience, which isnt much I admit, but his techniques are incredible. He's also very patient.

I started training with Harlan full time about three years ago. Before that I trained with him on and off for 8 years. I've known him since he was a purple. Whoever Charles is, who posted that ignorant info that Harlan is a poor instructor has no clue about the subject. Harlan is well known to be one of the smoothest and most technical BJJ Black Belts anywhere. If you trained with him anytime in the last 3 years, I was on the mat that day too. As I recall, Harlan had a knee surgery around Feb. Your spastic white belt self has no idea of what was going on when Harlan was pretzeling you. Your ego got in the way most likely. If you doubt Harlan's teaching ability I'm sure you'd have no trouble tapping me out since he taught me. I invite you to try. Stop by the Fist Factory in Stuart anytime to try your luck. Ask for Jeff...If my response sounds a little personal... that's because it is.

I suppose it's against the rules to rate an instructor twice but...when I posted my comments about Harlan, I accidentally hit the 6th star on the rating scale. I thought the entire row of stars was a link to a rating page. I intended to rate Harlan as a 10 star instructor...and so, now I will.

I've been competing for over 20 years in all types of full contact sports(Wrestling,Boxing,Kickboxing,MMA)ect, and rolled with some great fighters even UFC champions, and Harlan has the best Jiu-Jitsu I've ever seen.

I have to say Jeff I remember the night the guy who made that comment about Harlan was complaining. I also will say it would be in his best interest to start with me. Harlan is the most amazing teacher anyone who knows anything would be proud to say He is my TEACHER.

My spouse and I only recently started with Harlan about two weeks ago, and we are hooked. From day one of nervously walking in we felt welcomed and most at home with him. One of the best teachers I've ever had,he's knowledgeable and a master of his craft-clearly. I can safely declare that my husband and I are addicted to his teaching styles, the fellow students (both experienced and new) friendliness, and the boost in confidence and stamina they bring. Can't wait for our next class, see you soon!

Harlan is the real deal. Totally calm and collected. He is like quick sand when you spar with him. He is kind and patient. He can take you out in seconds if he chooses but allows you to try your moves and only then does he react to help you learn the trade. A true master of the art. I have a profound repect for his amazing abillities and he is a even better person.
