I've been with Professor Juan Reppin for about 5 months now. I have over 30 yrs. experience in the martial arts collectively and can spot a good (true) instructor over a marginal one pretty much instantly. I can say nothing but great things about Professor Reppin's training methods, his approach to teaching a variety of learning levels and his patience and calm disposition on the mat. You can tell a lot by interacting with an instructors students and every single person I have rolled with is a testament to his teaching. Looking forward to building my BJJ game under his guidance!

Please if anyone reads this. Do not let his innocence looks and his career fool u. A serial killer is never suspected because the person who is responsible never fits the profile. This man has been troubled since he was young. Do your research. I swear by god. This guy is not what u think. I have nothing against him other than what he has personally done to me. But he thinks he smart enough to fool others . He does not realize I know more than he gives me credit form including enough evidence to put him In jail. But God says no. So I don't. But I will warn who ever I can. This is not a joke. He will most likely delete this. But I will keep posting untill he is exposed. And stops what he is doing.

He can take you out in seconds if he chooses but allows you to try your moves and only then does he react to help you learn the trade. A true master of the art. I have a profound repect for his amazing abillities and he is a even better person.

I trained at Industrial Fitness in Queenstown in 2016 and I thought the facility was dope, the owner Brandon was super chill. but this guy was a real let down. It felt like all he wanted to show beginners was that he was "good" and he wasnt even very good... nowhere near the level of a brown belt where I come from. My first impression of Jiu-Jitsu in NZ is that it is not so strong. Apparently he is under some big team in Auckland (Oliver MMA?), I plan to check them out when i am there next.

A lot of coaches show you a move and tell you to drill it - wash, rinse, repeat no questions asked. Weiss has the uncanny ability to demonstrate a technique, break it down for you as an individual, and then tap you with it right after. Some coaches struggle to adapt techniques for different body types, and a lot of coaches can't effectively utilize all the techniques they teach - Weiss is on a completely different realm. I've been in this game since 2007 and have had Weiss host seminars on two separate occasions at my Academy. We have everything from overweight mothers looking to get back in shape, children of all ages, to young competitors looking to win as many tournaments as possible. Weiss was able to adapt every technique he taught to help each person on an individual basis, no questions asked, and with a smile on his face. He brings an excellent yet hard working vibe to the mats, and cares about each and every one of his students. I'm proud to be one of his Purple Belts and look forward to watching him and all of his students grow to amazing achievements.

His knowledge, hard work and love of jiu jitsu shows in the fast progression of all of his students. His style of teaching has given me the confidence and skill to compete in large tournaments, He's gotten me in the best shape of my life and brought my game to a level that I didn't think I could reach. He has changed my life for the better, training under him was the best decision I've made. Weiss is an instructor and coach who really cares.

The head instructor JP Garcia is sleeping with one of his female coaches who is married to one of his former students. The guy is a wolf in sheeps clothing. He acts nice and friendly on the outside but the dude is pure evil. Anyone who can break a family up has no respect in my book. Don't trust your kids, girlfriends or wives around this guy. Run as far away from his school as you possibly can. Plenty of other decent schools around that area where the instructors don't sleep with their students.

I had the pleasure of training under Sundar for about 2 years, right after I received my blue belt. In that 2 years time I gained a wealth of knowledge. One thing that stands out is the class warm up drilling repetition. It was always the same drills but covered just about every BJJ movement you would use in real situations. Sundar will drill the fundamentals and precision of moves into you which I grew to appreciate and realize more now how something that simple was so important. I also learned like from no other how to be heavy with my top game. Sundar could recognize in his students their strengths and would work on making them even better as well as encourage you to work your weak positions as well to improve. Sundar takes BJJ to a different level with his knowledge and respect of the art. He trained under the greats and is excellent at passing that knowledge he gained on to his students. Count yourself fortunate if you get the opportunity to train under Sundar.

We are very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience during your time here, our white belt class is definitely focused on beginners and the Essentials of Jiu-Jitsu. The upper level belts are meeting requirements to work with the white belts and having them work in gives the white belts a chance to get advice from, and feel more advanced technique. I will make it a point that everyone understands why we do this in order to get the most out of it. Thank you for this perspective and feedback. We will educate our future students accordingly about the learning process coming from multiple ranks and instructors. I will also say that we only close on a few major holidays or for extreme weather conditions where travel is considered unsafe. All of our instructors are trained and spend many years on the mats and must exhibit high values and standards before they are allowed to run class. I understand that voicing a complaint can be awkward but we have several ways to make the students opinions heard, including anonymous surveys. I wish you would have brought this to my attention and I’m sure we could have met your needs. We are extremely open and accessible to the student body and any concerns they have. I wish you the best Jorge and please know you are welcome back anytime, should you choose to return.

Felt great at first, but as I became more familiar with the Gracie combatives, sometimes it was taught different by higher ranks, that taught the class when the instructor was out which was a lot, as a beginner, mat time, is important to beginners, but as higher ranked students come in half an hour, before their time, they are allowed to step in , and take over the mats at times, they just move in as you trying to get in repetition of the technique before your class ends, and they jump on the Matt to get it in so to speak, as you watch, them take over the Mat which was a little frustrating, because your time and money is important, Gracie Jujitsu isn't cheap, at times as scheduled it's canceled. I decided to go elsewhere

Today marks my 1 year training at Relson Gracie, and I'm glad I made that decision to walk through those doors. The head instructor Professor Mike Casey is well versed in his craft and his demonstration of techniques says it all. Every time I attend a class, even if it was a technique I previously learned, I always learn how to improve on it and make it more effective. Professor Mike along with his instructors are great, and are always willing to help out their students. The school is heavily focused on the self defense aspect of Brazilian Jiu jitsu just how Grand Master Helio Gracie wanted the art to be taught.

I've been studying with Mike Casey and his crew for over a year now. Words can hardly express how happy I am with my decision to train here. I tried a couple of the bigger name schools before and felt more lost on my way out than I was on my way in. How does the fight start? How do you end up in this weird position? How useful is this in keeping you safe so you can get home? Mike removes all of those questions. He beaks things down into super simple yet highly detailed bites that immediately get the idea across while leaving room for that eventual "Aha!" moment when you put it together I practice. I walked out of my first day feeling safer already! They also have a great kids program. Kids are NOT learning how to be aggressive bullies that respond to violence with violence. But the lessons BUILD CONFIDENCE (something that can't be taught. That confidence makes kids able to help not only themselves but others if need be. Jiujitsu teaches control, patience, sensitivity and awareness not put your fists up and try to bash someone's skull before they bash yours. Kids need that even more than adults. Try Relson Gracie NY. Get healthier, more confident and learn techniques that can save your life or just make sure you can get home safely!

I am hesitant to write a negative review, but I feel it is needed so that others do not make the same mistake, and are not made to feel how we felt. I do not mean to offend anyone and hope to just provide an overview of my partner and my own experiences. This guy is a total creep, and I honestly recommend that you stay clear of him. My partner and I went to train with him at Fight Science/Industrial Fitness as we did not know there was more Jiu-Jitsu in the local area, we should have researched ourselves rather than rely on someone telling us. When we first trained with him he had 5 stripes on his purple belt (we had never heard of this before), soon after when we came back he had a brown belt. "The Animal" as he calls himself, could not articulate how he was able to be promoted to Brown belt (although he did have a certificate that he showed us :P). In regards to his teaching of BJJ, setting aside everything to follow, he is okay, although the techniques are explained in overly complex manner, almost as if he is trying to appear to be more masterful than you. However his actual Jiu-Jitsu is sub-standard for brown belt level (even for purple belt he seems average at best). I was later told that he left his old team, as the blue belts and even the more experienced white belts were beating him and his ego (which believe me is big) could not take it (This is the opposite story that he tells anyone who will listen). I cannot say if this is a fact or just a local joke (the guys I heard it from thought it was pretty funny), but I would not be surprised. So what makes this guy so bad? Well he is rude, abrasive, and clearly has a bad sense of personal hygiene (his Gi stinks so bad I wanted to be sick). On top of this I felt uncomfortable the whole class as I felt he was constantly trying to touch me and I swear at one point he smelled my hair. This would be bad enough, however what made it worse was that my boyfriend was also present and this made the situation very awkward. The way he talks is terrible, and he seems unable to be civilized and lacks any sense of manners. When we did randori in the classes he simply tried to injure everyone, he appeared to go 100% on everyone regardless of level (the level at this gym is low, aside from a purple belt, just a few white belts and even people wearing casual clothes to Kimono classes) and try to force submissions as fast as possible. Again this seemed like a serious ego problem. I have since stopped training here (obviously), and having spoken with local people regarding Jason Smith I was shocked (but not at all surprised) to hear even more concerning things, of a serious criminal nature, told to me. I will not go into great details but they include assault, female battery, and supplying drugs to children (it is a wonder that he is not in prison). On doing some research I found that this is all public record in New Zealand and is in fact true. I am going to end my comments here as if you have not got the picture by now, that this is not a good teacher or place to train, then nothing I say will change your mind. Go and see for yourself. Be safe, Sandra
