Mike is a fantastic instructor with one of the best guard games north of Brazil! I have trained under mike for 5 years and week after week he finds ways to not only keep the content taught fresh, but also constantly building on prior lessons and themes. Paying a visit to NSBJJ is a must if you are in Snohomish County

Michael is a great instructor to learn from. His school is large and the talent level is very high. Michael is very friendly and has a very fluid teaching style so that techniques that are taught in class move on to the next technique rather than stacking all sorts of info on you and expecting you to remember. I enjoy attending his school. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Professor Mike makes his students his priority. Mike’s positive and infectious attitude and demeanor bleeds through the school which is impossible to miss. He can take a wide range of skill levels in the same room, conduct the same class, and everybody will leave with something making them better than they were an hour and-a-half before they walked in for class.

Mike’s knowledge, attitude and skill provide his students with the best possible advantage to learn no matter what shape, size , or ability that student has. His kind and humble demeanor serves as reminder that one can be polite while choking you out….

Mike is a very special person who takes the time to teach you as he puts the hurt on you. He is humble, gracious, generous and is willing to teach anyone from any kind of skill level. Joining his school has change my mental attitude, confidence level and took someone who had no concept of jujitsu and turned me into a person who now has a little bit of ground game. NSBJJ should be your only choice if your thinking about this sport. Four Gracie Barra trained black belts…….enough said.

Professor Simpson embodies all the characteristics of a great instructor: skilled, passionate, friendly, leads by example, humble, just to name a few. Each time I have visited he has managed to make me feel as one of the family and imparted some knowledge on me that has made me a better grappler. The atmosphere at his school is very friendly and welcoming. His students are great too which is the best reflection of his character. I would recommend him and his school all day, every day.

What a great teacher!!! When i came in to start i Was very nervous for my first day, but what a surprise! That nervousness flew out the window! The friendliness and great atmosphere that professor Mike set made me feel at home!! Not only is Mike a great teacher but he sets a great example for his students! Each one of his students was very friendly and respectful to everyone! Explains the instructions very clearly so that I can learn jiu jitsu at my fullest potential! Very understanding and works with every student he teaches! Words can’t express how great Mike, his students, and the training environment is! If you’re trying to learn jiu jitsu or continue practicing, I recommend you come train with professor Mike first!

I have only had the opportunity to work with Mr. Simpson a couple times, and both times I left his gym feeling like I just moved up a notch or two. His style and format of teaching is very effective and blends well with all levels.

I started training with Mike almost 10 years ago while I was in high school. At the time I was young, immature, and not doing well in school. Training jiu-jitsu with Mike taught me discipline and motivated me to work harder at everything in life. The ultimate goal in jiu jitsu is not to conquer our opponent, but to conquer ourselves by learning discipline, self-control, balance, overcoming our fears, and seeking out new opportunities to learn and grow. Today, I have a Master’s degree and I recently earned my black belt in jiu-jitsu. I would not be where I am now without jiu-jitsu. Mike is an amazing instructor who is very knowledgeable and helps all students realize their potential in a positive and meaningful environment. North Sound Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a great school to be a part of!

Mike Simpson is an outstanding role model in BJJ, and in life. anyone who has trained with him can attest to his technical ability as a jiu jitsu ninja, as well has his demeanor as a person. I have been involved in the local submission wrestling community for a number of years and i have met very few instructors with the patience and attention to detail that mike possesses. im very proud to say that i got to train with mike and with the NSBJJ team, and can honestly say his instruction has elevated my game in more ways than one. Thanks for everything Mike and team NSBJJ.
